We are gearing up for quite a week at the Donovan household so there should be lots of posts in the next couple days. Of course, things have been busy here as we get ready for Alex to be born. I finished up work and am officially on maternity leave starting tomorrow. And of course celebrating Halloween. Jacob and I went to a Halloween Party at the Y on Thursday. He really did not know what to make of the whole thing. Between the kids in costumes, the kids coming up to him and giving him hugs because he was dressed like Elmo and they all love Elmo, and the trick or treating around the building it was pretty confusing all around. He does, however, love his "Elmo shirt", though he seems to like cuddling with it more than actually wearing it.
On Friday, daycare had their Imagination Parade. For the parade, the teachers come up with a theme and create the costumes with the kids. This year, Jacob's class dressed up as bakers - complete with aprons and hats made out of paper plates and poster board. Jacob loves his hat and has worn it pretty much constantly since Friday. I managed to stay out of sight until the end of the parade, which he found just as confusing as the Halloween Party.
Today we carved a pumpkin. To be fair, Chris carved the pumpkin...it turns out Jacob is scared of pumpkins. Or at least the insides of pumpkins and also jack-o-lanterns. We went trick-or-treating for a little while. We went to half a dozen houses. At the first one he would not go up to the door and wouldn't hold his bag. By the end he would not let me hold his bag. When he found out there were peanut butter cups in his bag he wouldn't let me near his bag. I let him have two pieces of candy. He managed to get another piece out, but he isn't quite able to open the wrapper himself so then he had to ask for help. In the end he settled for a cup of milk instead.
Oh and in case you were wondering, in the picture with all the little toddler bakers...Jacob is the one in the back - I only put that picture in because he looks so tall!
