Baptism weekend

Once again we have had a very exciting week! Jacob was baptized into the Catholic Church today and some of Chris's family is here to celebrate. Karen (Chris's oldest sister) is Jacob's godmother and the baptism took place during our regular Mass so everyone that we go to church with was there. He handled it very well - with minimal crying - and was quite intrigued by the fact that water was being poured on his head. He fell asleep shortly after we went back to our seats. After the Mass we had people back to the courtyard in our apartment complex (yes we're still in our apartment, more on that later) and had a cookout. We had a lot of fun and it was a very nice day despite the fact that Father's Day was a little overlooked.

Last night we went out for German food and ended up at Sommerfest. We ate out on the patio and there was live (and loud!) music - complete with accordion. Jacob is going through a bit of a "mommy phase" at the moment: screaming and throwing himself toward me if other people are holding him. If I am holding him he is very friendly and brave and willing to interact with anyone he sees. So he was sitting with Chris's mom and the band was getting ready to start and Jacob was just beside himself. The band actually asked us if they should start and drown him out. So they started playing and Jacob was completely intrigued by them. He watched them with complete awe and actually started smiling and laughing at them. The band noticed and pointed out that it was in fact their music that made him happy when no one else could. At the end of the first set, one of the band members came over and gave Jacob a CD. He told us that when Jacob cries at night we can play the CD to calm him down. Jacob was quite appreciative: he grabbed the CD with both hands and put it in his mouth. I should also point out that he has FOUR teeth coming in (two on the top and two on the bottom on either side of the two that are already in).

As for the house - we are still in the process of buying the townhouse but it's been a long drawn out and moderately painful process. Everyone appears to be back on the same page again and we could possibly still close on June 30th. We'll let you know!
