An update on the townhouse and other things...

We have now officially been "under contract" on the townhouse for 4 months. A week ago we found out that all of our funding is ready which should have meant that as soon as all of the documentation got to the title company we'd be ready to close. However, it turns out that the complex lost their FHA loan approval. Basically we were all set up for an FHA loan but that was no longer an option. They are working on selling more units and getting their paperwork changed to get their approval back but of course this will take time. So we decided to walk away. This has been such a ridiculous experience from the beginning - and our mortgage broker STILL won't admit that anything is wrong and seems to feel we are the unreasonable ones. Luckily for us, the VP of sales disagrees. We got a personal apology and they are now paying all closing costs, we are getting our deposit back, our rate locked in until closing (our rate lock was to expire on Friday), and a promise that closing will happen within 30 days. We are cautiously optimistic that we will be into the townhouse before our apartment lease is up...luckily we started really early on the whole process!

In other news Jacob has been sick all weekend but is feeling much better today. Unfortunately Chris and I are now fighting off whatever he had - the doctor thinks flu but didn't want him to come in. Whatever it is we had a super cranky, super clingy baby with a 104 fever most of the weekend! The fever is gone but he still sounds hoarse and he has a cough which will likely stick around for awhile. He also has teeth 7 and 8 about to break through!

I also have a quick request from anyone reading this: please take a moment to pray for all parents who have lost their children. I spoke last time about my message boards and the random babies from the internet. This group has been wonderful but there have also been some rough times: two of the babies have died from SIDS and one has very little time left due to a rare and very aggressive form of cancer. So please just take a minute to pray for all of the parents out there and the babies (and kids too - the pain isn't diminished because the kids are older). Thank you!

On a happier note, we have had some fun adventures lately including berry picking and having dinner with Chris's grandparents at the German restaurant. The top picture shows Jacob's very toothy grin - you have to look closely though - we'll try to get a better tooth picture for next time.
