Big changes ahead...

First an update on the house: there is nothing new. Not anything. We still do not have a closing date despite the addendum to our contract saying we will close by Friday. We are still optimistic that it will happen soon, just not by Friday. If anyone is considering looking for a house do not under any circumstances go with Taylor Morrison Home Funding.

The up side to all of this is that our lease isn't actually up until the end of September. We will not have to pay the lease-break fee which is nice. Now we're just hoping we don't have to go month to month.

In the meantime, we celebrated our 5th anniversary with a trip to Vegas. Vegas is a very interesting city. I had never been before but basically we found a really good deal and since Chris's parents were already in town and willing to babysit the timing was perfect. We had a great time and Jacob did well after getting over his initial suspicion of his grandparents. The first night they were in town he did not want to go to sleep until they left. When he realized that Chris and I were gone he was very upset but he got over it and had a good time with his Nana. We got home just in time for me to leave to lead my WW meeting and then I met everyone for dinner. It was a late night: we got home at 10 and Jacob had fallen asleep in the car. Of course he woke up when I took him out of the carseat and upstairs, but he was still pretty groggy until we walked into the apartment. When he realized that it was just the three of us he perked right up and proceeded to babble for an hour and a half. He would babble and giggle and was just having the time of his life. It was 11:30 before I got him calmed down enough to go to sleep. I think he told me about every single thing that happened while we were gone. If that is the case then it sounds like he had a lot of fun.

In addition to our impending move, Jacob will be starting daycare soon. He has been coming to work with me since I came back from maternity leave but as he is getting bigger and more active it's getting harder to get things done. He's also become quite distracting to some of my coworkers who would rather play with him than do their work. So he will start at Cisco daycare at the end of this month and go three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). We went on a tour last week and I think he will have a lot of fun there. It will be an adjustment for all of us but I am looking forward to compartmentalizing a little bit and not feeling like I have to be doing 3 things at once all the time. I will be able to work during work time and play with Jacob without feeling like I should be working. It's been great to bring him with me, but exhausting at the same time.

I'm posting a picture that was taken at the same time as the last one. Between the two pictures I think it gives a very good idea of his personality. He's pretty happy overall but he's also very curious and concentrates very hard on whatever he is trying to figure out. Next time I will try to remember to put a video of him eating finger food!
