I realize that Halloween was yesterday but that was when we got all of the good pictures so the post had to wait until today. Although Jacob had a lot of fun celebrating Halloween this year he was also very confused.
On Tuesday we went and picked out a pumpkin. My friend Kelley was in town so she went with us (and took the pictures) while Chris was at work. We figured that going over the weekend would be a little intimidating.
On Thursday we accidentally went to a Halloween party at the Y. (We were going to a play group they have there but it was our first time and it happened to be a Halloween party.) Luckily, he was wearing his pumpkin shirt so he didn't feel too out of place with all of the kids in costume. We went trick-or-treating all around the Y and he thoroughly enjoyed the animal crackers and string cheese they gave out.
On Friday they had an Imagination Parade at daycare. Each class has a class theme and the teachers help the kids make costumes for that theme. Most of the themes were books. I'm honestly not sure what book Jacob's class picked, but it was something to do with fish. All of the babies had painted shirts. They also had painted fish hats, though none of them were actually willing to wear the fish hats. We got there early enough to watch them get ready (we stayed on the other side of the yard so Jacob didn't see us) and all of the babies WERE wearing their hats until they tried to put one on Jacob. He would have none of it. He put his hands on his head so they couldn't put it on him. Later they managed to put it on him and the kid behind him took it off, so when it was actually time for the parade all of the hats were just tucked behind each baby in a 4 seat stroller. What really surprised me was how much bigger Jacob is than all of the other kids. He spends most of his time with the toddlers and they are the same size, but seeing him in the stroller with the other infants was kind of shocking. Now not all of the babies are his age but even the boy that I know is the same age is much smaller than he is. After the parade, we all went back to the classrooms and had cookies. The babies got homemade sugar cookies that were easily the size of their heads. They could put funfetti frosting on the cookies but Jacob was thoroughly uninterested as putting frosting on the cookie delayed the actual eating of the cookie.
On Halloween, Chris's grandparents came over for lunch and pumpkin carving. They are in town from Arizona so it had been awhile since they'd seen us and it was the first time they'd seen the house. We had gotten Jacob a cow costume, though he didn't wear it for too long. Because we'd had to get a toddler size it was not really made for crawling around in. But we did go to a couple houses in our neighborhood and of course, he was very cute. We had a lot more kids come to our door than we had in our apartment so that was nice too.
