Halloween

By the time we got back from Ireland and had unpacked and started sleeping normally, it was alarmingly close to Halloween. In addition to requiring costumes and something to give out to trick or treaters, Halloween is the beginning of two solid months of crazy. Halloween is followed closely by Alex's birthday. Thanksgiving is later in the month followed by Jacob's birthday, Chris's birthday, Christmas and New Years along with all of the school and work events that accompany the holiday season. Very fun, very busy.

Jacob wanted to be a race car and Alex wanted to be a train. Preferably Thomas or one of the Chuggington trains. I prefer not to spend a lot of money on a costume that will be worn once and outgrown. We settled on Jacob as a racetrack and Alex as a train yard. I had high hopes of using actual toy trains and cars but ended up using card stock. But the cars on the racetrack could actually race and the trains on the train yard could move around. They were a big hit!

This year we also got super creative. We actually decorated more for Halloween than we ever have. We took fruit cups to the boys' school for their Halloween potluck. We had pumpkin yogurt for breakfast (in jars decorated by Jacob). We even had treats available for infants, but for the first time ever we didn't have any infants out trick or treating.

 I took the boys in for their school party because Halloween was a Thursday and that is not a day they usually attend. Chris took the boys trick or treating while I handed out treats. We didn't get many people but we did have fun.
