The trip home was fairly uneventful, but long. Jacob did not sleep at all and Alex only slept a little so it was a VERY different experience from the flight out. But they both behaved pretty well and there was very little crying or otherwise disturbing of fellow travelers. This was due in large part to the fact that we let Jacob watch several pixar movies - it turned out that I used very little of the other activities I had brought with me for the plane. But the important thing was that everything went smoothly and most of our fellow travelers never even knew he was there. Alex made all sorts of friends since he mostly just smiled at anyone who would look at him. He is such a happy guy that it really is contagious. Our first flight was delayed so we had an almost too short layover in Dallas, but we made it on the plane okay and that is what matters. We got home safely, ate dinner, and everyone went to bed pretty early. We didn’t get home until 7:30 on Sunday and then we all had our normal work and daycare on Monday morning. Everyone was exhausted but again, that made the transition and time change pretty easy.
We had a wonderful trip and we hope to do it again some time. It’s a little daunting to think that by next year at this time all of the babies will be walking - or at least close. Alex is rolling all over, scooting backwards, and trying to get up on his knees so mobility is not too far off. But to have three of them in the same place at the same time should be exciting!
Now it’s back to the “real world”!
