Yesterday Alex experienced the ocean for the first time. He was not that excited, but he took it pretty well. We took him into the water while the tide was coming in and there were the tiniest little waves. Of course, they didn’t look that little to Alex or to Jacob for that matter. Alex watched every wave come toward him and splash on his tummy. He also watched Jacob sitting in the waves. It seemed to make him feel much better until one of the waves splashed Jacob in the face. Jacob spluttered a little and was definitely not thrilled, but Alex was VERY upset. He let out a scream that didn’t even sound human. He did go back in again a little later but mostly he preferred to sit on the sand. He sat on the sand with Chris and when they stood up there all sorts of tiny finger marks in the sand. Unfortunately he then put his hands in his mouth. He actually didn’t seem to mind that nearly as much.
Jacob on the other hand is thrilled. He likes sitting in the water. He likes lying down in the water. He likes scooping wet sand up from under the water. He likes jumping in the water. He has a great time for awhile and then declares that he is all done - usually after getting splashed in the face. Then he goes and runs around on the beach for awhile. But he never stops moving. He seems to know that if he stops moving, he will probably fall asleep.
Overall, we have had a great trip to St. Simons and a wonderful visit with my dad and stepmom.
